2022-23 Reflections Art Program Call for Entries! 

Be Inspired. Unleash your creative talent and express yourself through fine arts, music composition, dance, photography, film or writing medium to the Reflections Page theme.  The theme is, “Show Your Voice!”

Original Reflections art pieces will be due Friday, October 21^st to Ms. Armstrong at Room B25103.  Refer to the Reflections Page on the PTA website for the digital packet.

The Mustang Drive is Back in the Saddle!  Our planning team is brimming with ideas including the opportunity for all grades to go to PALI camp in November.  We are excited to announce our next meeting on Tuesday, October 4 at 8:15a in the multipurpose room.  We still need a Silent Auction chair, Prize committee members and a Mustang Drive packet coordinator.  Sign up here to fill these key positions:  2022-23 Rogers Mustang Drive Committee

The event celebration date has changed.   Our fundraising activities which begin October 24 will culminate in a school wide, all inclusive event on December 16th.  

FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHT!  Rogers Student ASB is hosting our first school dance of the year.   Costumes are optional and $3 tickets will be sold on campus next week, from October 3rd until October 6th.  Food and drinks will be sold as well.  Permission slips will be required.

The Dance will be held on campus from 3p – 4:30 pm.

CJSF applications are due today for 8th graders!

CJSF stands for California Junior Scholarship Federation. It is a state wide organization that recognizes student academic excellence and community service.  Click here to apply!

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE EXTENDED!  Listen up Mustangs!  We are extending our PTA Membership Drive to help us hit our goal of 100% membership.  We NEED YOU!  We are still 200+ memberships short of our goal.  That means you now have until October 15th to sign up for PTA memberships and be eligible for a lot of great rewards, like an in class party for the 1^st period class at each grade level with the highest percentage of memberships, and a chance to win a front of the line pass for lunch and activities, a “skip the mile-run pass” or 4 reserved front row seats and reserved parking for 8^th grade promotion.  Buy memberships online at the Rogers PTA website today.

SAVE THE DATE!   Our first Lunch on the Lawn will take place on the front lawn, along Monrovia Avenue, on Thursday, October 13 from 12p-12:40p.  This is the first time since the pandemic where we can have lunch with your student and meet with other families in our Rogers community.  This event is open to family members or friends of family.

A permission slip is required and will be sent home next week.  

A HEARTFELT THANK YOU!  WE SOLD OVER $5000!Thank you to our Librarian, Caitlyn Stuart, and all our volunteers and teachers who helped support another successful book fair this past week.

Over $2000 will go back to our library to help purchase additional books.

USED UNIFORM PROGRAM IS BACK!  Have you had a chance to clear out your closets?   There is a large box in the foyer by the front entrance where people can donate their gently used PE clothes, hoodies, spirit shirts and solid black and solid grey outerwear.  There will also be a used uniform sale in the Fall and Spring (dates are t.b.a.).  For those in financial need, the office will have some used hoodies and new spirit shirts.

JOST’S Comes to Rogers on Back to School Night!
Thursday, September 29, 4:30p – 7pm 
Starting at 4:30p, parents can come prior to Back to School Night, reconnect with our Rogers parents and teachers, and hear from our new principal, Mr. Chu.  Joe Jost’s legendary “Joe’s Special” sandwich and famous pickled eggs and pretzels will be available for purchase.

After Back to School Night, we welcome all the families to stay for our kickoff PTA association meeting in the Auditorium at 7p!  , Come hear about the plans for 2022-23, approve the budget, amend the bylaws and more.

Become a Rogers VIPS to volunteer on campus.  For in person events at Rogers, LBUSD requires you to have a Rogers VIPS badge. A VIPS badge from another school doesn’t transfer to Rogers. Next week, September 19-22, all Rogers students will take the i-Ready Diagnostic Assessment with their 1st period class. We will be on a special testing block schedule, so they will have a dedicated uninterrupted time to take the diagnostic in both ELA and Math. This information will provide a baseline for what they already know and what they will need to learn this coming year. This is important information for our school to ensure we provide proper interventions and differentiation to meet the needs of all our students. Please make sure your child is prepared for next week by arriving ON TIME, bringing their own wired-headphones/earbuds, getting plenty of sleep, eating breakfast, bringing a snack to eat afterwards (water is allowed) and encouraging your child to do their best.  Please remind them that it is only a diagnostic and they do not have to know all the answers.

KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR UPDATES!   Our Scholastic Bookfair will run from September 26-30 so please check out our Instagram and Facebook pages for updates and our volunteer signup link.  We will need 1-2 volunteers daily in shifts throughout the school day to help make it a success!

WRAP Program Information.  The Action Youth America provides students at Rogers Middle School a free, in person, after-school program where students will enjoy fun lessons, field trips and more!   The program begins immediately after school until 6pm.  If you are interested in joining, click here or scan the QR code for more information.  Students will have the option of participating in Cheer, Dungeons & Dragons or Drama as part of the program offerings.

First PTA Meeting.  Please save the date for the first PTA meeting Thursday, 9/29 at 7pm in the Multipurpose Room (following Back to School Night).  Meet Principal Chu, learn what is going on at Rogers this year, help the PTA approve its budget and review and vote on amendments to its bylaws.
