PTA News – Friday, 12/23/22

Can you believe in just a little over a week, we will be ringing in the New Year??????

We have many exciting things to look forward to in 2023 such as the Mustang Drive, which will kickoff January 18 and culminate on February 24, featuring inflatables and games your Mustang will not want to miss, along with lots of incentives and prizes. The Mustang Drive is the PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and helps pay for field trips like PALI, the WEB program, educational and classroom enhancements and more!  Watch your emails and your students’ backpacks for more information and check out the next meeting, Monday, January 9, at 9:30 am in the Multipurpose Room!

We will also host the annual Jeopardy Tournament, Career Day, a Star Wars movie night, and Long Beach High school visits for our 8th graders.

Looking back this fall, we are so thankful to all the PTA Board members, our association members, our teachers and chaperones for pulling off the PALI trip, allowing over 75% of our students an unforgettable experience in the mountains.   We would especially like to recognize Mrs. Weinstein, Ms. Wheeler and Mrs Davis for helping all our families navigate fundraising, billing, bus coordination, student announcements and so much more!

Thank you to our PTA president, Leeanna Izuel, who kicked our PTA into gear with her organization and leadership.  She works so hard and always provides a helping hand!

A special shoutout to our Mustang Drive committee head, Kimberly Johnson who assumed a herculean task, head on, and has been working diligently with all our chairs, Michelle Zimmerman-Getchius, Laura Verbryck, Jessica Gonzalez, Christo Brock, Erin Monge and Remy Tams, on our biggest fundraiser – an effort that requires a lot of planning and communication.

We cannot forget our amazing Dine Out Team: Carol Jones, Heike Intagliata, and Rickey Goodling for advertising and creating opportunities for our community to share a meal and help our school and partners at the same time.

This year, we brought back the Reflections program, which was spearheaded by Anna Reyes and Mrs. Armstrong.  What a pleasure it was to see the creativity among our Mustangs!  We recently enjoyed a movie back on campus, coordinated by Mary Loos.  Seeing our students excited to be with one another, in a safe space, never gets old!

Finally, we would like to thank Principal Renny Chu.  It’s been a wonderful transition with Mr. Chu as our administrator.  His sunny disposition has made our families feel welcome and we truly appreciate the warmth throughout this season!

Enjoy your winter break everyone, we will see you in the New Year!
