REMINDERS

ROGERS TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS DUE MARCH 31st! 

The Long Beach Council PTA’s annual Teacher of the Year program honors an outstanding teacher from  LBUSD. Nominate a Rogers teacher by filling out the form here! Nominations are due March 31st!

OPERATION EASTER BASKET DONATIONS DUE MARCH 31st!

Rogers will be joining forces with Justin Rudd to fill Easter baskets for children of families in need. This is Rogers’ 13th year participating in this event and Rogers is excited to make a difference in our community. Rogers is collecting for ages 0-16.  If you can help Rogers spread some Spring cheer, the following items would be appreciated:

• Hygiene Items:  (preferably full-sized) soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, bubble bath,  toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, nail polish, nail file, hand sanitizer, hair accessories, face wash, razors, shaving cream, hair ties, loofa, diapers, baby shampoo, baby powder, baby bottles, hair brushes
• New Toys:  Cars, balls (all sports), small Lego sets, playing cards, yo-yos, slinky, Easter toys, jump ropes, small stuffed animals, plastic baseball bat sets
• New School Supplies:  Pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners, boxes of crayons, markers, colored pencils, stamps with ink pads, crossword puzzles books, drawing pads, notebook paper, calculators, rulers, erasers, journals, chalk, pencil bag, highlighters, Post-It notes, WhiteOut, glue, paint sets
• Food:  Sealed small-sized candy, full-sized candy bars, individually wrapped snack packs, Pez candy holders and refills
• Essential Clothing:  (only new items) T-shirts, onesies, socks, slippers, baseball caps, flip-flops, beanies

 PLEASE ONLY DONATE ITEMS ON THE LIST.  Donations are due by March 31st!

Career Day is Back!   We need committee members, VIPs and presenters to ensure the successful return of our Career Day on campus.   The event will take place on Tuesday, May 23rd and we need volunteers to:

• Help create and plan Career Day (now!)
• Help publicize the event with our community (now until May 23)

• People movers on the day of the event
• Presenters on the day of the event

8th Grade Families – PLEASE READ!  

Our party is underway but this event will be driven by available funding.  That means, we need our 8th grade families to donate $25 per kid today or help support a classmate that may not be able to pay.  Click here to donate today!

Also, we have roughly 30 ad spaces available in our yearbook. If you want to create a personal quarter-page-sized spaces dedicated to your 8th grader, click here for more information or to purchase. First come, first served.

REMINDERS

• Lunch on the Lawn – The Spring Lunch on the Lawn will be held next Thursday, March 23 along Monrovia from 12 pm to 12:40 pm.  To simplify the process, parents/guardians MUST complete the Google Form sent via email to parents/guardians through School Messenger.   Once these RSVPs have been linked, your student will receive a wristband on Thursday to meet you outside on the lawn.  Consider calling in a Taco Shore order to help with our Dining for Dollars fundraiser going on all month long!

  The effects of parental involvement on student achievement are clear: family involvement increases the likelihood that students will graduate, improve their grades, have better attendance, and go to college.

MUSTANG DRIVE UPDATE!   

With our Mustang Drive corporate sponsorships and the help of our Rogers families, we raised a little over $45K!!  Thank you to each and every one of you for the time and effort you put into this to make it such a huge success!!

This week, we pulled names for all our Red Ticket and Gold Ticket prizes. All of the students who won something will get a slip from their 1^st period teacher next Monday, March 20 to redeem at lunch time on Tuesday, March 21 (weather permitting).

Congratulations!   We are so proud of our Mustangs who participated in the preliminary round, the semifinals and the championship!  Emmit (6th), Matthew (7th), and Claire (8th) did an excellent job getting to the Championships and our final Jeopardy winner was…Emmit

Fun Fact:  Computers were used in 2017 to calculate the value of Pi to a record-breaking 22 trillion decimal places, wow!  What’s even more fun?   Eating Pie.

CONGRATULATIONS DELANEY KAISER!

In the fall, Delaney entered her dance piece in the 2022 Reflections Program.

This past week, Delaney Kaiser was honored at the 33rd District PTA Reception. She advanced to the 33rd District level of competition and received a 3rd place award for Dance Choreography.  Only 9 students from LBUSD placed 1st-3rd in the 33rd District competition.  Thank you for representing Rogers with your creativity and talent!

In case you missed it, you still have 6 more opportunities this month to participate in our Dining for Dollars.  It’s an easy way to give back to your school, and support one of our local partners.

GREAT JOB MUSTANGS!  Today was our Mustang Drive Celebration Event!  Thanks to all the volunteers and Rogers staff who made this such a fun day for our Rogers students.  BIG THANKS also to everyone who helped Rogers PTA raise over $40,000 for Rogers (and counting)! Stay tuned for more information about the final results of the Mustang Drive.  We are still accepting donations — so feel free to continue to share the link on Facebook, via text or via Pledgestar.
