Featuring Joe Jost’s legendary “Joe’s Special” sandwich and famous pickled eggs and pretzels available for purchase. Starting at 4:30p, parents can come prior to Back to School Night, reconnect with our Rogers community of parents and teachers, and hear from our new principal, Mr. Chu. After Back to School Night, we welcome all the families to stay for our kickoff PTA association meeting in the Auditorium at 7p! We will approve the budget, hear about the plans for 2022-23, amend the bylaws and more.
Join the Mustang Drive Committee TODAY! The Mustang Drive is kicking off in October, and will end with a fun Mustang Drive event day on December 2nd! To have a successful fundraising drive and fun event day, we need your help! There are large and small ways to help, including volunteer coordination, securing prizes/donations, planning event day activities and more. We are nearly halfway to our goal! Have you joined our PTA yet? Our goal is 100% Participation which means we need over 400 more members to sign up. Check your children’s backpack as they should have brought home information about the drive, including student and classroom prizes and incentives.
Reflections Art Program for 2022-23. The theme for the Reflections Art Program has been released! The theme is, “Show Your Voice!” Create a piece of original artwork to this Reflections Page theme using the fine arts, music composition, dance, video, photography, or writing medium. Refer to the Reflections Page on the PTA website for more updates as we get them!

Next week, September 19-22, all Rogers students will take the i-Ready Diagnostic Assessment with their 1st period class. We will be on a special testing block schedule, so they will have a dedicated uninterrupted time to take the diagnostic in both ELA and Math. This information will provide a baseline for what they already know and what they will need to learn this coming year. This is important information for our school to ensure we provide proper interventions and differentiation to meet the needs of all our students. Please make sure your child is prepared for next week by arriving ON TIME, bringing their own wired-headphones/earbuds, getting plenty of sleep, eating breakfast, bringing a snack to eat afterwards (water is allowed) and encouraging your child to do their best. Please remind them that it is only a diagnostic and they do not have to know all the answers.

Our Scholastic Bookfair will run from September 26-30 so please check out our Instagram and Facebook pages for updates and our volunteer signup link. We will need 1-2 volunteers daily in shifts throughout the school day to help make it a success!

Become a Rogers VIPS to volunteer on campus. For in person events at Rogers, LBUSD requires you to have a Rogers VIPS badge. A VIPS badge from another school doesn’t transfer to Rogers. A MESSAGE FROM PTA PRESIDENT LEEANNA IZUEL Congratulations, Mustangs! Our Rogers community pulled together to overcome challenges in another uncertain year, persevering through zoom and in person meetings, supporting Rogers staff and students, funding programs and student needs, and organizing amazing student events for the first time in two years! Thanks to all our PTA volunteers, to the Rogers staff and teachers, and to the PTA Board and event chairs for their hard work, dedication, enthusiasm, motivation and creative thinking!

THIS IS JEOPARDY… THE TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS SATURDAY JUNE 11TH! All the best to Nate W. tomorrow Saturday June 11th as he represents Rogers Middle School and LBUSD as a contestant in the SoCal Jeopardy Tournament of Champions at Marshall Academy of the Arts! He will compete against five other LBUSD Middle/K-8 student champions & others.
Happy Trails, Mustangs! Rogers PTA wants to take a moment to recognize a few of our teachers & staff who will be departing Rogers at the end of the 21-22 SY.
PTA shouts one last hurrah to Principal Wood as he begins his new assignment as Principal of Robinson K8 for the 22-23 school year!
Finally, we also want to give one final farewell & so long to Teacher of the Year Mr. Ching and wish him all the best during retirement after 41 years as a Phys. Ed. teacher at Rogers!

It has been my absolute privilege & pleasure to be the person representing Rogers PTA via the weekly PTA news and the posting of other website and social media content during my three years at Rogers (2019-2022). Save the Date! Open House IN PERSON NEXT WEEK Wednesday May 18th 6-7 p.m. | Rogers is holding IN PERSON Open House later this month! Parents and students are welcome to come by during this event to visit classrooms, meet teachers, look at student work, and generally visit campus. This is a free-form event with no bell schedule, so make time to visit all of your child’s classrooms and spaces on campus that they spend time in daily. More info is available on your student’s Canvas tiles in the weekly bulletin and other school communications.
