Friday 20 September 2024
Back to School Night is this Tuesday, 24 September. Teachers will open their classrooms, and parents will be able to follow their student’s schedule in miniature. Gates open at 4:30 when Joe Josts will be serving their locally famous food. Back to school night starts at 5:30, followed by our first Association PTA Meeting at 7:00 in the library.
The Year’s first PTA Association meeting takes place immediately following Back to School Night. The main item is to approve the PTA’s budget for the school year. The meeting is open to all members of the PTA. If you haven’t already joined, no worries – you can join on the spot.
We’ll meet upstairs, in the library, immediately following Back to School Night.
Principal Chu has let us know that the school’s gym basketball backboards are in desperate need to replacement. They’re the original ones installed in 1948, and they’re in great need of updating. Replacing them will cost $52,000 if we get the project going today (they’ll only get more expensive with time), and the PTA board has stepped up to help! Pending Association approval of the budget and this expenditure, we aim to match any donations to this effort on a dollar-to-dollar basis, up to $25,000. It’s gonna take some doin’, so let’s do it!
See you on Tuesday!
Friday 13 September 2024
2nd full week completed, and we’re making plans. If you haven’t already, please renew your membership to the PTA. Many, many benefits for only $10! Last year the PTA gave $162 for each student at Rogers, for recreation Aides, field trips, PE uniforms, the Jeopardy tournament, BrainPOP, teacher supplies, staff appreciation … well, you get the idea.
For those of you who’ve ordered PE clothes that have yet to be delivered, they have arrived. They will be distributed Monday 6th period.
Our new budget was approved by the board on Tuesday, and there’s much to like about it: field trips for all three grades, continued funding of Jeopardy and BrainPOP, increased funding for the Wellness Center, and the usual categories. But most notably, we’ve voted to support principal Chu’s backboard replacement initiative. Principal Chu expects that 6 new backboards for the gym will cost just a bit more than $52,000; the PTA will match donations for the backboard up to $25,000 in this calendar year. Let’s hoop! Stay tuned for details.
The 2024/2025 budget is open for review for all PTA members in good standing and will be up for association approval at our next Assocation Meeting on Tuesday September 24th immediately following Back to School Night
Friday 6 September 2024
Welcome back, everyone! It’s the hottest day of the year (so far), and I’m glad we’re not a few miles inland. A few things of note in this newletter:
- Time to renew your PTA membership!
- Sign up to Volunteer for school events
- Looking for a Graphic Designer and a Social Media Coordinator
- School PE Uniforms available on the PTA webstore
- PTA & School Calendar links
- Back to School Night coming up on the 24th
Only $10! No obligation other than to be part of our school’s PTA group. Easy!
All of us in the PTA are volunteers, but there are many tasks that need doing. In the Fall there’s Mustang Drive, Field Days, lunch on the lawn. The Spring has Career Day, 8th Grade Promotion, 8th Grade Party. There’s many opportunities throughout the school year to contribute, whether you have a little or a lot of time.
We need several talents for this year’s PTA. We’re looking for:
- Graphic Designer – to help design posters and flyers
- Social Media Coordinator – someone to help us post on Instagram, Facebook, and the Webstie
- Website Designer/Coordinator
If you’re interested, please visit our SignUpGenius site. Or you can email me at president@rogersmiddleschoolpta.com.
School mandated PE uniforms are available for purchase on the PTA’s PTEZ website. Purchases will be delivered to the front office Friday morning and distributed to students through the ASB.
We ran out of small sizes of the PE shorts at TCB; they’re being shipped and will arrive next week. Look for them Friday.
You can find the Full PTA and school event calendar here.
Add it to your Apple iCal calendar with this link.
Mark your calendars for Back to School Night on Tuesday, 24th of September. The event kicks off with Joe Jost’s serving their home favorite kind of food at 5p. Open House starts at 5:30, and our first Association Meeting of the year is at 7:00p. See you all there!
Happy New School Year, y’all!
