We met our first milestone of raising $10,000. Every student in the school was entered in a raffle to win kayak and standup paddleboard rentals. Congratulations to the winners!

When the school meets the following milestones, every student will be entered to win:

  • $20,000 – Aquarium of the Pacific passes for four
  • $30,000 – Universal Studios passes for two
  • $40,000 – Bike
  • $50,000 – MacBook

Rogers 8th Grade Party Flyer for fundraising for event date 6-14-20228th GRADE SUPPORT NEEDED! Meeting THIS MONDAY 4/4! The end-of-year party for all Rogers 8th Graders is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14th from 6-9 p.m. at the CSULB Student Union. Want to help with planning or just learn what’s happening for our 8th Graders in their last few months at Rogers? The next 8th Grade Committee Meeting is scheduled for THIS MONDAY April 4th 6:30-7:30pm via this ZOOM link (email Danielle Van Divort at deesteinberg@yahoo.com to RSVP and/or for additional info).

The 8th Grade Committee also needs your donations by THIS MONDAY April 4th to make it happen! A flyer went home to all 8th graders in February explaining the event along with how you can help to support the effort. This will be a glow-in-the-dark themed, parent-supervised event with a mac-and-cheese bar, tater tot bar, candy bar, live DJ, dancing, bowling, billiards, shuffleboard, air hockey, a photo booth, and MORE! You can link to the donation portal specifically for 8th Grade events on the image to the right at the PTA store or use the link hereA suggested donation of $25 per 8th Grade student is requested to cover the costs of the event for ALL 8th graders – to date the committee has already raised over $2000 thanks to the generosity of 50+ families … but they still have a little ways to go to meet this Monday’s goal – DONATE TODAY!

To clarify, please note that this celebration is not the promotion ceremony but a special, additional party being planned for our 8th grade students to have a last “hurrah” together as a class. Easter basket clip artOperation Easter Basket is on NOW through Friday April 8th! Rogers Middle School is joining forces with Justin Rudd to fill Easter baskets for children of families in need. This is Rogers’ 13th year participating in the event, and we are excited to make a difference in our community. We are collecting for ages 0-16. If you can help us spread some spring cheer, donations would be appreciated and can be dropped off at the main office NOW through one week from today, Friday April 8th as follows:

Hygiene Items | (Preferably full sized) soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, bubble bath,  toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, nail polish, nail file, hand sanitizer, hair accessories, face wash, razors, shaving cream, hair ties, loofa, diapers, baby shampoo, baby powder, baby bottles, and hair brushes.

New Toys | Cars, balls (all sports), small Lego sets, playing cards, yo-yos, slinky, Easter toys, jump ropes, small stuffed animals, and plastic baseball bat sets.

New School Supplies | Pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners, box of crayons, markers, colored pencils, stamps with ink pads, crossword puzzles books, drawing pads, notebook paper, calculators, rulers, erasers, journals, chalk, pencil bag, highlighters, post-it notes, whiteout, glue, and paint sets.

Food | Sealed small sized candy, full sized candy bars, individually wrapped snack packs, and Pez candy holders and refills.

Essential Clothing | (Only new items acceptable)T-shirts, onesies, socks, slippers, baseball caps, flip-flops, and beanies.

Teacher of the Year 2022 forms due 4/4/2022Teacher of the Year 2022 | Nominations Due THIS MONDAY April 4th Long Beach Council PTA annually honors an outstanding teacher from the LBUSD. Parents or students, please consider nominating an outstanding Rogers teacher, one who implements creative and innovative ideas that enrich the learning experience of our Rogers students.

Nominations are due THIS MONDAY April 4th at 5 p.m. Nomination form HERE or click image – form includes instructions how to submit entries and other details. The winner of the Long Beach Council PTA Teacher of the Year Award will be presented with a $300 classroom grant and will be recognized by the Long Beach Council PTA in June. Hello Mustangs! We hope everyone had a good week and “Pi Day” on 3/14! Coming up THIS MONDAY MARCH 21st is our BIG MUSTANG DRIVE KICK-OFF (more details below)… get ready for a fun few weeks, Mustangs, all culminating with the student field event date on Thursday April 14th!

Rogers Middle School PTA logo thumbnail social image b.wRogers PTA Elections Meeting IN PERSON THIS TUESDAY March 22nd at 6:30pm Elections for the 2022-23 Board are scheduled for the next General Association meeting, which will be held IN PERSON at Rogers in the former Home Rec Room (where PE Uniform/Rogers Sweatshirt sales happened at the beginning of the year; please enter from the door off of Monrovia).

We are so excited to be able to welcome everyone back to campus for this first in-person PTA meeting since January 2020! We hope you can make it! All are welcome… and please bring a friend! WE NEED A QUORUM TO BE ABLE TO HOLD OUR ELECTIONS. All Rogers PTA members who have joined by February 22nd are also eligible to vote in the elections. More information regarding the elections is posted in the March 11th issue of the PTA News.

In addition to our annual elections, PTA will be honoring the top three student finishers of the Jeopardy Tournament and also recognize the Reflections contest participants, and we will also be approving our mid-year audit and monthly financials and getting updates (and approving contracts) related to the Mustang Drive and 8th Grade Event. Principal Wood will also provide updates on what is happening at Rogers as well.

So much fun happening, Mustangs… We hope to see you Tuesday!

Mustang Drive kicks off THIS MONDAY, March 21st! This is our most important fundraiser of the year and supports enrichment programs, field trips, student programs, and teacher wish lists. At the kick-off, students will get information on how to sign up and the prizes they can win!

How can parents help? 

  • Sign up: https://pledgestar.com/rogers/
  • Add family and friends to send donation requests by email or text.
  • Post a donation request on social media, especially Facebook, using the option appearing after adding your donors. This has been proven to be very effective!
  • Purchase a Mustang Drive T-shirt at the PTA web store

We are looking for T-shirt sponsors! T-shirts are very popular among students since they can wear them year-round. Your logo will be on the back of the T-shirt, providing you with excellent exposure. Your business will be appreciated and seen by Rogers families and the community throughout the school year and into the following. A limited number of spots are available! You can purchase a sponsorship at the PTA web store.

Rogers PTA Elections Meeting IN PERSON later this month, Tuesday March 22nd at 6:30pm Elections for the 2022-23 Board are scheduled for the next General Association meeting, which will be held IN PERSON at Rogers (exact location TBD) on Tuesday, March 22nd at 6:30 p.m. 

We are so excited to be able to welcome everyone back to campus for this first in-person PTA meeting since January 2020! We hope you can make it! All are welcome… and please bring a friend!   • SAVE THE DATE! 8th Grade Committee UPDATES The end-of-year celebration for all Rogers 8th Graders is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14th from 6-9 p.m. at CSULB. A flyer went home last week to all 8th graders explaining the event along with how you can help to support the effort! You can also link to the donation portal specifically for 8th Grade events at the PTA store here. A suggested donation of $25 per 8th Grade student has been requested to cover the costs of the event for ALL 8th graders.

Want to help with planning or just learn what’s happening so far? Stay tuned for more info on the next 8th Grade Committee Meeting scheduled for early April before Spring Break!

In the meantime, please consider helping with these specific areas in need of volunteers, as follows:

ROGERS RESCUE MISSION 2021 -AND- GIVING TREE GIFT CARD DONATIONS DUE NEXT WEEK WED. DECEMBER 15TH! Tis the season for… GIVING BACK! Rogers Middle School returns this holiday season with its annual holiday donation drive efforts, offering a wide variety of options for our generous families to choose from and a range of organizations to support, all the way down to keeping donations hyper-local right within our own Rogers community!

The Rogers Giving Tree Gift Card Drive is accepting donations of gift cards in any amount to the front office from 11/15 through 12/8 2021. Gift cards for gas, groceries, "big box" stores, and fast-food and fast-casual chain restaurants are all good options for this donation drive. Gift cards may be left at the front office of the school during regular hours of operation (students may drop before school).EXTENDED! GIFT CARD DONATIONS DUE TO THE OFFICE BY NEXT WEDNESDAY 12/15! The Rogers front office staff has EXTENDED THE DEADLINE for the Rogers Giving Tree this holiday season! This is a gift card donation drive and is a program that supports families right here within our own Rogers school community. Gift cards such as ones for grocery stores, “big box” stores (like Walmart, Target, etc.), fast-food or fast-casual chain restaurants, and gas are requested in any amount that you are able to donate ($5 and up). The Rogers Giving Tree is accepting all gift card donation drop-offs from families at the front office anytime during school hours (students may come by the office before school to drop-off) NOW through NEXT WEEK, WEDNESDAY 12/15.

Rogers Rescue Mission 2021 is supporting a wide variety of organizations this holiday season from Nov. 29th to Dec. 15th.This season, the Rogers Rescue Mission under the partnership of Rogers PTA and Rogers Student Council/ASB will be supporting Food FindersNew Life Beginnings, and the shower program at St. Luke’s. Please refer to the image posted above for a full wish-list of items in need by each program. These donations may be dropped off by students in the ASB room off Mustang Park before school or to the main entrance or brought to the office as soon as possible during school hours. The Rogers Rescue Mission is accepting all listed donation items NOW through the final drop-off date NEXT WEEK no later than Wednesday 12/15.

Rogers PTA is here this holiday season to help support Rogers Student Council and the office staff with these donation drive efforts. ROGERS RESCUE MISSION 2021 Tis the season for… GIVING BACK! Rogers Middle School returns this holiday season with its annual holiday donation drive efforts, offering a wide variety of options for our generous families to choose from and a range of organizations to support, all the way down to keeping donations hyper-local right within our own Rogers community!

The Rogers Giving Tree Gift Card Drive is accepting donations of gift cards in any amount to the front office from 11/15 through 12/8 2021. Gift cards for gas, groceries, "big box" stores, and fast-food and fast-casual chain restaurants are all good options for this donation drive. Gift cards may be left at the front office of the school during regular hours of operation (students may drop before school).GIFT CARD DONATIONS DUE TO THE OFFICE BY NEXT WEDNESDAY 12/8! The Rogers front office staff has brought back the Rogers Giving Tree this holiday season! This is a gift card donation drive and is a program that supports families right here within our own Rogers school community. Gift cards such as ones for grocery stores, “big box” stores (like Walmart, Target, etc.), fast-food or fast-casual chain restaurants, and gas are requested in any amount that you are able to donate ($5 and up). The Rogers Giving Tree is accepting all gift card donation drop-offs from families at the front office anytime during school hours (students may come by the office before school to drop-off) NOW through WEDNESDAY 12/8.

Rogers Rescue Mission 2021 is supporting a wide variety of organizations this holiday season from Nov. 29th to Dec. 15th.This season, the Rogers Rescue Mission under the partnership of Rogers PTA and Rogers Student Council/ASB will be supporting Food FindersNew Life Beginnings, and the shower program at St. Luke’s. Please refer to the image posted above for a full wish-list of items in need by each program. These donations may be dropped off by students in the ASB room off Mustang Park before school. The Rogers Rescue Mission is accepting all listed donation items NOW through the final drop-off date of Wednesday 12/15.

Rogers PTA is here this holiday season to help support Rogers Student Council and our front office staff with these donation drive efforts. Rogers PTA wishes all of our families and students a GREAT Thanksgiving Break, starting with Minimum Day 2:18 p.m. dismissal today… whether spent with family, friends, and/or on travels, we hope you get a well-deserved rest! And just in case you need this friendly reminder… NO SCHOOL Monday 11/22 through Friday 11/26 (classes resume Monday 11/29).

Rogers’ Giving Tree and Rescue Mission Now Collecting for the Holidays

Rogers Rescue Mission is the school’s annual charity drive. The school is collecting donations now through Wednesday, December 18th for Food Finders, the shower program at St. Luke’s, and – in collaboration with the Green Team – His Little Feet.Rogers Rescue Mission 2019 items are due to school by no later than Wednesday December 18. Turn in items in Advisory or to Rm. 1201 before school.

Rogers Giving Tree 2019 is open in the school office. Donate gift cards toward families in need this holiday season by Friday December 13. See School Loop for all details or check with the office.Rogers Giving Tree 2019 | Rogers is also adopting several families this season who could use some support. The office is collecting gift cards from a variety of stores and businesses. Any donations are greatly appreciated!  Please see Ms. Rene in the main office for drop off of gift cards or more details on this specific program. All Gift Cards are due by Friday 12/13.

All items will be collected from advisory class, except please drop gift cards directly to the office.
