Hello Mustangs! We hope everyone had a good week and is doing their best to stay healthy and safe – hang in there, everyone! Home COVID tests are scheduled to be sent home TODAY with all students ASAP to assist you with monitoring your student’s symptoms and overall health status. Additionally, if your student needs a COVID-19 test witnessed or from a lab, a reminder that LBUSD opened its student- and employee-only dedicated testing site at Cabrillo HS this month for both PCR and Antigen testing – go here for all details!

PTA Elections Scheduled for March 22nd | Board Positions Available for 2022-23 Thanks to everyone who attended the January PTA meeting earlier this week! We had a GREAT turnout and because of you we were able to select our Nominating Committee, which is formed to identify a slate of eligible PTA Board Candidates for the 2022-23 school year.

MEETING AND ELECTIONS NOTICE | Elections for next year’s Board will be scheduled for the next General Association meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, March 22nd.

The next meeting is anticipated for early March. Dining for Dollars UPDATES Big thanks to all those who attended last night’s January event at CPK at the LB Marketplace! Rogers PTA also wants to give a shout out to George’s Greek Cafe, who sponsored the December event, and to those who attended and supported the event, which generated a generous donation of $200 toward student and school programming and events! SAVE THE DATE! PTA General Association Meeting Tuesday 1/18/2022 at 6 p.m. via ZOOM Please plan to attend the next Rogers General Association PTA Meeting LATER THIS MONTH via ZOOM (link to come via school communications to all families soon).
At this meeting PTA will discuss upcoming family events and other activities “for the kids” such as the Mustang Drive scheduled for later this year. While EVERYONE is welcome and invited to attend this meeting, please note that only active 2021-22 Rogers PTA members are eligible to vote.

Please also note that the January meeting is when PTA membership selects its Nomination Committee, which is formed to identify a slate of eligible PTA Board Candidates for the 2022-23 school year. Elections for next year’s Board are held at the March 2022 meeting. It is important that we have a quorum at this meeting to form this very important selection committee to ensure the future of Rogers PTA for our students, staff, and families, so please plan to attend and share the meeting link with a friend or two!
Principal Wood also is scheduled to address membership at this month’s meeting. We do hope you can come to learn more about what is happening at Rogers!
We hope we can count on your support, voice, and vote to help with these efforts! Out of respect for everyone’s time, PTA is going to start the meeting right at 6 p.m. and make it a goal to keep the scheduled agenda to one-hour. Thank you for your understanding.
Dining for Dollars at CPK Thursday January 20th! Rogers PTA’s next Dining for Dollars event will be at California Pizza Kitchen (Long Beach Marketplace 6417 E PCH location) later this month on Thursday January 20th, all day from 11am to 10pm!
Dine-in or take-out on this date at this location earns Rogers PTA 20 percent back on your purchase!
You can participate in this fundraiser by doing any of the following on January 20th at the Long Beach Marketplace location:
(1) presenting paper flyer to the server for dine-in (official flyer coming soon),
(2) showing a digital copy of the flyer to the server from any mobile device for dine-in or take-out (official flyer coming soon – check back here, our social media channels, or the Dining for Dollars website page for updates),
(3) showing the server a social media announcement promoting the fundraiser for dine-in or take-out, or

Rogers PTA wishes all of our families and students a GREAT Thanksgiving Break, starting with Minimum Day 2:18 p.m. dismissal today… whether spent with family, friends, and/or on travels, we hope you get a well-deserved rest! And just in case you need this friendly reminder… NO SCHOOL Monday 11/22 through Friday 11/26 (classes resume Monday 11/29).

ROGERS RESCUE MISSION 2021 Tis the season for… GIVING BACK! Rogers Middle School returns this holiday season with its annual holiday donation drive efforts, offering a wide variety of options for our generous families to choose from and a range of organizations to support, all the way down to keeping donations hyper-local right within our own Rogers community!
This season, the Rogers Rescue Mission under the partnership of Rogers PTA and Rogers Student Council/ASB will be supporting Food Finders, New Life Beginnings, and the shower program at St. Luke’s. Please refer to the image posted above for a full wish-list of items in need by each program. These donations may be dropped off by students in the ASB room off Mustang Park before school. The Rogers Rescue Mission is accepting all listed donation items from Monday 11/29 through the final drop-off date of Wednesday 12/15.
The Rogers front office staff also has brought back the Rogers Giving Tree this holiday season! This is a gift card donation drive and is a program that supports families right here within our own Rogers school community. Gift cards to grocery stores, “big box” stores (like Walmart, Target, etc.), fast-food or fast-casual chain restaurants, and gas cards are requested in any amount that you are able to donate ($5 and up). The Rogers Giving Tree is accepting gift card donation drop-offs from families at the front office anytime during school hours (students may come by the office before school to drop-off) NOW through Wednesday 12/8 (no school 11/22-26).
Rogers PTA is here this holiday season to help support Rogers Student Council and our front office staff with these donation drive efforts. Please remember that while students and families are not obligated to participate, any donations you are able to give are very much appreciated. Please keep an eye on the weekly bulletin in your Canvas login and look to school communications for updates. Rogers PTA Membership Drive Updates! Thank you to everyone who joined or renewed their Rogers PTA during our official Membership Drive and by the Incentive Deadline of October 31st!
INCENTIVE UPDATES Last week, Principal Wood conducted the final raffles to determine the recipients of the various individual incentives PTA offered during this year’s Membership Drive. He then announced the names in a special end-of-day audio broadcast to all students last Friday 11/5. This included the announcement of the class party recipient for highest participation percentage. A BIG Congratulations to Mr. Hamilton’s 1st Period class on receiving this recognition with a class participation level of 114 percent… more memberships returned than students in the class!

Rogers PTA Membership Drive Updates! Thank you to everyone who joined or renewed their Rogers PTA during our official Membership Drive and by the Incentive Deadline of October 31st!
This week, PTA was able to identify those students who qualified for the various membership drive incentives that were offered. We appreciate your effort and how you all really rallied for Rogers PTA during the drive!
We are happy to report that we had 547 new or renewing members during our official membership drive period, with 270 members joining or renewing via TOTEM online. The total to date is more than DOUBLE the amount of membership we had all last school year! THANK YOU for your support!

A reminder that Rogers PTA is able to offer a few incentives for joining PTA during our Membership Drive this year!

- Any student who becomes a member (or returns a membership) will be entered into a drawing for a $50 AMC gift card. One entry limit per student
- Any student who returns four (4) or more memberships will be entered into a drawing for a “Front of the Line” pass to be used at lunch AND all Rogers student activity days for the entire 2021-2022 school year! One entry limit per student
- Any 8th Grade student who becomes a member (or returns a membership) will be entered into a drawing for 4 reserved front-row seats at 8th Grade Promotion! One entry limit per student
- The 1st Period class with the highest percentage of memberships will receive an in-class party!

PTA’s goal for membership is one membership per student. Rogers currently has an enrollment of around 800 students. The count as of October 28th shows that Rogers PTA has signed up 531 total members! This includes 267 members who have joined or renewed online via TOTEM, PTA’s online membership portal. We are currently two-thirds of the way to our drive’s goal with just TWO DAYS LEFT! We are doing GREAT – but we still have more work to do and really REALLY could use your support to meet our goals!

Student Field Day Friday October 29th Field Days have returned to Rogers, and PTA and Student Council need donated items to help make it a successful event. At this time, unfortunately VIPS and other in-person volunteers are still prohibited from participating in person on campus during these events, but we welcome donations at this time as you are able to help answer the call.

Rogers PTA Membership Drive is NOW thru OCTOBER 31st! A HUGE thank you to everyone who has joined or renewed your membership and/or purchased sweatshirts or PE uniforms with the PTA so far this year. Your support falls right in line with this year’s theme of “Connecting Families and Schools”… THANK YOU!
Halfway Mark of our Membership Drive! As a mid-drive follow-up, all students should have received a red flier and envelope from the PTA recently. Please review this flier to learn more about PTA and what it does for ALL of our students and school! If you still have yet to become a member, now’s your chance! Or, maybe you have already joined but want to pass the flier onto a family member, neighbor, friend, or other Rogers fan… that’s great… all are welcome! Just fill out the envelope provided and submit $10/ea membership, cash or check (made out to “Rogers PTA”), or you can easily join PTA online now here with credit/debit card via Square.
PTA is able to offer a few incentives for joining PTA during our Membership Drive this year!
JOIN PTA BY OCTOBER 31, 2021 and Receive Great Incentives!
- Any student who becomes a member (or returns a membership) will be entered into a drawing for a $50 AMC gift card. One entry limit per student
- Any student who returns four (4) or more memberships will be entered into a drawing for a “Front of the Line” pass to be used at lunch AND all Rogers student activity days for the entire 2021-2022 school year! One entry limit per student
- Any 8th Grade student who becomes a member (or returns a membership) will be entered into a drawing for 4 reserved front-row seats at 8th Grade Promotion! One entry limit per student
- The 1st Period class with the highest percentage of memberships will receive an in-class party!
