Rogers Middle School PTA logo black on whiteRogers PTA Board Is Looking for Board Member Volunteers for the 21-22 School Year! Coming up in March 2021 at its General Association meeting, Rogers PTA will be holding its annual election for Board members for the 21-22 school year. Please note that per by-laws, in order to participate as a PTA Board member and/or to vote, you will need to join PTA as a member (only $10 online here – more info below also!). If you are interested in a Board position (all positions open with exception of Treasurer and Historian, full list of officers here), please download and complete a Board Interest form and email to: rogersmiddleschoolpta@gmail.com  (subject “PTA Board 21-22”).

REMINDER Please also note PTA is still seeking volunteers for open positions for this current year. PTA currently has two Board positions available, VP Ways and Means (Fundraising) and Community Outreach Director (handles Appian Way banner sales and other business partnership opportunities, one of our flagship fundraising programs annually). Uniforms Committee Chairperson (sweatshirts and PE uniforms) is also needed. These positions are open and ready NOW for people who are wanting to jump right in and get involved with Rogers PTA! More information on these positions can be found at our Board web page and our Volunteers-Committees page. SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENTS STARTING IN 2021 Parents should have received a letter from LBUSD (Letter to MS/K8 Parents) prior to Winter Break with upcoming Middle School schedule adjustments as an effort to help reduce screen time for our students, and Principal Wood also re-sent the letter along with additional follow-up in an email to all parents dated 1/2/2021. Wednesday 1/13 and Wednesday 1/27 will be asynchronous days, and starting in February, each Wednesday and Thursday will be minimum days (first Min. Days scheduled for Wed.-Thurs. 2/3 and 2/4, dismissal 2:18 p.m.). The upcoming asynchronous days will be used to provide teachers with professional development and assessment analysis to inform future instruction and to provide student feedback. More information should have also been provided to students regarding the asynchronous days directly earlier this week and will also be sent out again just before each assigned day.

Free Food Distribution for Community at Long Beach Convention Center Saturday December 19, 2020, 9 am-12 noon.LBUSD SUSPENDS MEAL DISTRIBUTION OVER WINTER BREAK Reminder that LBUSD will not be distributing student meals from Monday, December 21st through Friday, January 1st, 2021. Meal distribution will resume on Monday, 1/4/2021 when classes resume for students.

In the meantime, if you are or know of someone in need at this time, please take a look at the attached flier for a FREE community drive-thru food distribution event TOMORROW, Saturday, December 19th, 9 a.m. to Noon, at the Long Beach Convention Center Parking Lot. Flier contains all details of Covid-compliant guidelines required for attendance. More information also available online here.

Giving Tree Rogers Middle School 2020 Holiday Gift Card Donation Drive ends Monday, December 14, 2020REMINDER! Giving Tree Gift Card Donations Due THIS MONDAY 12/14 The final day for the annual Giving Tree Gift Card Donation Drive is THIS MONDAY, DECEMBER 14th. Rogers Student Council is collecting gift cards in direct support of local families in need right here at Rogers. Please note that any gift card in any amount may be donated. Donations may be dropped off at the school office. For more details, please remember to check your email for the weekly school bulletin every Monday.

WANTED: PTA Board Members and Chairperson PTA currently has two Board positions available, VP Ways and Means (Fundraising) and Community Outreach Director (handles Appian Way banner sales and other business partnership opportunities). Uniforms Committee Chairperson (sweatshirts and PE uniforms) is also needed. These positions are open and ready NOW for people who are wanting to jump right in and get involved with Rogers PTA!
